Storm Alert: Heavy Rain, Strong Winds To Hit Multiple States Until 1pm

Malaysian Meteorological Department has issued a short-term thunderstorm warning covering several states across Peninsular Malaysia and Sarawak, with severe weather expected until 1pm on April 21.

Affected areas in Perak include Manjung, Perak Tengah, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim, while Pahang will see impact in Bera and Rompin.

In Selangor, the warning covers Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Klang and Gombak.

Meanwhile, Negeri Sembilan (Jempol and Tampin) and Johor (Segamat) are also expected to experience similar conditions.

In Sarawak, the alert extends to Kuching, Serian, Samarahan and Kapit (Bukit Mabong).

MetMalaysia said the warning is issued when there are clear signs of thunderstorms producing rainfall exceeding 20mm per hour, either already occurring or expected to last more than an hour.

The department stressed that such warnings are short-term in nature, valid for no longer than six hours per issuance.
