KL’s Rentak Debut Draws Huge Crowd For A Night of Throwback Hits

Kuala Lumpur has a new live music entry to its cultural calendar. The debut of Rentak Music Celebration 2026 at The MET Corporate Towers on April 24, 2026 drew a full house, with tickets fully sold out ahead of the event. The turnout points to steady demand in the city for live shows built around familiar music and shared cultural references.

The event was staged as part of a 10-year milestone celebration by Triterra, using music as a way to bring different audiences together in one space. It opened with a surprise appearance by Donne Ray Radford, followed by the official launch led by Hannah Yeoh, who spoke about the role of cultural programming in shaping the city’s identity.

The main programme focused on live performances from Ning Baizura, Elvira Arul and Yazmin Aziz. The setlist leaned heavily on 1980s and 1990s music, with tracks such as Waterfalls, Lady Marmalade, Saving All My Love for You, Un-Break My Heart, Kiss Me and Kau dan Aku. The selection kept the focus on familiar material, with strong audience engagement throughout.

The event was hosted by Douglas Lim, who maintained the pace of the evening with light interaction between sets. The format combined live music with a social setting rather than a standard seated concert, supported by a curated “Malaysiana” buffet and brand activations across the venue.

Sponsors included Colony Coworking & Event Space and BMW Auto Bavaria, alongside several lifestyle and fitness partners. These collaborations were integrated into the event space, extending the experience beyond the main stage performances.

As a first edition, Rentak Music Celebration positioned itself as a hybrid between a concert and a community event. The response suggests space in Kuala Lumpur’s live events scene for formats that combine nostalgic music, food, and social interaction in a single setting.
