Meta Bright Group Bhd, through wholly owned subsidiary Meta Bright Energy Sdn Bhd, has entered into a conditional subscription agreement to acquire a 51% equity interest in Bumidotearth Sdn Bhd, strengthening its push into integrated energy solutions and energy efficiency services.
According to Executive Director of Corporate And Strategic Planning Derek Phang Kiew Lim, the acquisition enables Meta Bright to internalise engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning capabilities, allowing the group to participate across the entire energy project lifecycle, from infrastructure deployment to monitoring and maintenance.
Phang shared that Bumidotearth specialises in Dynamic Control Drive hardware and Enerlytics IoT dashboards for HVAC optimisation in commercial and industrial buildings.
Phang said Bumidotearth’s technology had demonstrated HVAC energy savings of between 40.63% and 80.58% at two mall sites under a zero-capex Energy Performance Contract, generating combined monthly savings of about RM26,000 with an estimated payback period of 2.2 years.
“The acquisition would also allow the group to offer end-to-end zero-capex energy optimisation solutions to commercial building owners facing rising electricity costs,” he said, while sharing that Bumidotearth currently has 10 ongoing projects worth RM4.1 million, with deployments across shopping malls, hospitals, hotels and grocery outlets.
At the same time, Bumidotearth also has an identified project pipeline exceeding RM50 million involving institutional and commercial clients, he added.
