George Kent announced for the proposed acquisition of a 76% equity interest in Techkem Group Sdn Bhd , an established water and wastewater solutions provider, specialising in potable water treatment, industrial waste water treatment, sewerage treatment, wastewater recycling and reclamation, specialty chemicals and sustainable engineering solutions, for a total cash consideration of RM2 million.
Techkem delivers end-to-end services covering engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning, consultancy services, operation and maintenance, as well as design, build, operate and transfer projects, alongside the distribution of specialty chemical products for industrial and municipal applications.
Amongst Techkem’s notable recent achievements is the ownership of its first Build-Operate-Transfer (“BOT”) asset, a potable water treatment plant with an operational capacity of approximately 4,000 m³ per day under a concession running from 2025 to 2030. Techkem has also commenced the development of its second BOTproject, namely a backwash water reclaim plant with a treatment capacity of 3,000 m³ per day. The facility is expected to be among the first in Malaysia dedicated to washwater recovery and reuse, reflecting Techkem’s technical innovation and strengthening its positioning within the country’s growing circular water economy and water reuse segment.
As of 31 May 2026, Techkem’s outstanding order book stood at RM106.5 million, with a tender book ofapproximately RM1.5 billion. The acquisition will add substantially to George Kent’s order book and tender pipeline, strengthening the Group’s market and earnings potential.
The group said the proposed acquisition will be funded through internally generated funds and is expected to be completed by Q3 2026.
