Ahmad Zaki Unit Hit With Winding Up Petition By Contractor

Ahmad Zaki Resources Berhad (AZRB) said its wholly owned subsidiary, Ahmad Zaki Sdn Bhd (AZSB), has been served with a winding-up petition by Qimako Engineering & Construction Sdn Bhd over an alleged outstanding payment of RM1.18 million.

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia, AZRB said the petition was filed at the High Court of Malaya on April 16, 2026 and served on AZSB on April 24, 2026.

According to the company, the petitioner claims AZSB failed to settle an outstanding sum of RM1,177,749, prompting the winding-up action.

AZRB said its total investment cost in AZSB amounts to RM165.3 million.

Despite the legal action, the group stated that AZSB is not considered a major subsidiary and that the petition is not expected to have any significant financial or operational impact on the group.

The company added that, apart from legal fees and related disbursements, the group does not anticipate material losses arising from the petition.

AZRB said AZSB is currently engaged in discussions with the petitioner in an effort to reach an amicable and prompt resolution to the matter.

“The company holds a positive outlook, anticipating a successful resolution of the matter,” it said.

The board also clarified that the delay in announcing the matter to Bursa Malaysia was due to ongoing good-faith negotiations between both parties aimed at resolving the dispute amicably.
