Nintendo is speeding things up for fans of The Legend of Zelda. The company has officially moved the release of its live-action adaptation forward to April 30, 2027, one week earlier than previously planned.
The update was shared by Shigeru Miyamoto on Nintendo’s official X account, with the new date landing right in the middle of Japan’s Golden Week holiday — a prime window for major entertainment releases.
The schedule change is notable because it marks the second adjustment for the project. The film was originally set for March 2027 before being pushed back to May to allow for more production time.
Now, with filming reportedly wrapped and the movie deep into post-production, the earlier release suggests Nintendo is feeling confident about where things are heading.
Directed by Wes Ball, best known for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, the film stars Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link and Bo Bragason as Zelda.
Following the huge success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, expectations are already high for Nintendo’s next big-screen adaptation, especially with one of gaming’s most recognisable franchises finally getting the live-action treatment through Sony Pictures.
