Singapore stocks opened lower, tracking cautious regional sentiment as the Straits Times Index (STI) slipped 13.11 points or 0.26% to 4,975.97 as at 9.05am.
Market breadth remained negative with 143 decliners outpacing 83 gainers, while total trading volume stood at 104.47 million shares worth S$164.60 million.
Banking counters were mixed in early trade. DBS Group eased 0.05% to S$60.15, while United Overseas Bank traded at S$37.23 and OCBC Bank changed hands at S$22.85.
Among actively watched stocks, Keppel stood at S$10.40, Singtel traded at S$4.83, while Yangzijiang Shipbuilding was at S$3.88.
In the derivatives market, SGX recorded 19,570 contracts traded in early dealings. The Nikkei 225 Index Futures June 2026 contract stood at 61,010, while MSCI Singapore Index Futures May 2026 traded at 450.75.
Currency futures were mixed, with USD/SGD Futures May 2026 at 1.2793 and USD/CNH Futures June 2026 at 6.8037.
