MyKad Issuance To Face Delay As Govt Transitions To New Version

MyKad issuance and replacement services are expected to face temporary delays from Sept 1 to Sept 7 as the National Registration Department (JPN) transitions to the new-generation MyKad.

JPN said the transition will temporarily disrupt its MyKad printing services and advised those without urgent replacement or renewal needs to postpone their transactions until the process is completed.

Parents and guardians of first-time applicants, particularly children turning 12, are also encouraged to delay applications so they can receive the new-generation MyKad once it becomes available.

The department apologised for the inconvenience and thanked the public for their patience and cooperation during the transition.
