Berjaya Air Takes Delivery Of World’s First ATR HighLine All-Business Class Aircraft

Berjaya Air has taken delivery of the world’s first ATR 72-600 aircraft featuring the ATR HighLine all-business class configuration, marking a milestone in regional aviation and premium short-haul travel.

The aircraft, which touched down in Kuala Lumpur on 20 May 2026, is also the airline’s first ATR 72-600 delivery and serves as the launch platform for ATR’s new premium cabin concept. The configuration recently received certification from both the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and Malaysian authorities.

The aircraft features a fully bespoke 26-seat all-business class cabin in a 1-by-1 layout, giving every passenger direct aisle access and multiple window views. It is fitted with ETEREA seats by Geven, described as the widest ever installed on the ATR platform.

A key design feature is the removal of overhead bins, replaced by valence panels to create a more open cabin space with increased natural light, offering a premium environment comparable to larger private aircraft while retaining turboprop efficiency.

Syed Ali Shahul Hameed, Group chief executive officer of Berjaya Property Berhad, said the delivery marks a key step in the airline’s transformation.

“Taking delivery of the world’s first ATR 72-600 in ATR HighLine configuration marks an important step in Berjaya Air’s transformation journey. This new cabin experience enables us to offer guests a seamless and refined journey to some of the region’s most sought-after destinations, while maintaining our strong commitment to operational efficiency and service excellence,” he said.

ATR chief executive officer Nathalie Tarnaud Laude said the development reflects evolving market demand for premium regional travel.

“The ATR HighLine cabin collection opens new possibilities for operators seeking exceptional onboard comfort while leveraging all the efficiency and operational benefits of the aircraft,” she said.

Berjaya Air will begin operating the aircraft in the coming days, with its first flight scheduled on a new Subang to Koh Samui route.

The airline will also deploy the aircraft across its regional network covering Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia, alongside charter operations in the Asia-Pacific region.

A second ATR 72-600 in the same all-business class configuration is expected to be delivered in the third quarter of this year.
