Muhibbah Engineering Chairman Dato Kamaruddin Retires

Muhibbah Engineering (M) Bhd has announced the resignation of its non-independent non-executive chairman, Dato’ Mohamad Kamarudin bin Hassan, effective June 11, 2026.

The 70-year-old stepped down from the board due to personal reasons following his retirement, according to a filing with Bursa Malaysia.

Dato’ Mohamad Kamarudin had served as chairman of Uhibbah Engineering and brought decades of experience in public administration, international trade and economic policy to the company.

He began his career in 1979 with Malaysia’s Administrative and Diplomatic Service, receiving his first posting to the Macro-economic Division of the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) in the Prime Minister’s Department.

In 1988, he joined the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry, where he served in various divisions of the ministry and played roles in trade and industrial development initiatives.

Between 1992 and 1994, he was posted to the Embassy of Malaysia, Washington D.C. as Economic Counsellor, representing Malaysia’s economic and trade interests in the United States.

He later held senior positions within the trade promotion ecosystem and was seconded to Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation in January 2006 as Deputy Chief Executive Officer, a role he held until his retirement from public service on Aug 31, 2013.

Uhibbah Engineering did not announce a replacement chairman in the filing.

The board thanked Dato’ Mohamad Kamarudin for his contributions and leadership during his tenure with the company.
