Onn Hafiz Ghazi said he received a warning notification from Apple regarding an alleged mercenary spyware attack attempt linked to his personal account and smartphone.
In a post on X, the Johor Menteri Besar said he viewed the matter seriously as it involved data security, confidential communications, personal rights and attempts to intrude into an individual’s private space.
“I strongly condemn any form of spying, digital intrusion and misuse of technology for irresponsible purposes,” he said.
Onn Hafiz said he would lodge a police report and submit an official complaint to Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to enable a thorough investigation and appropriate legal action.
He added that the alleged attack highlighted concerns surrounding digital security and the misuse of technology that could threaten individual privacy and safety.
