Pekat Group Bhd has secured an expansion of its large-scale solar project in Johor following the execution of supplemental agreements that will more than double the project’s generating capacity and increase the overall contract value.
The group said its indirect wholly-owned subsidiary, Pekat Solar Sdn Bhd, entered into supplemental agreements with the project’s main contractor on May 29, 2026 to amend certain terms of an existing engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract.
The original contract, announced in October 2025, involved the design, engineering, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning of a 63-megawatt alternating current (MWac) large-scale solar photovoltaic power facility in Kulai, Johor.
Under the revised agreement, Pekat Solar will undertake additional works that will add 72MWac of capacity to the project, increasing the total installed capacity to 135MWac.
As a result of the expanded scope of works, the total contract sum has been revised upward to approximately RM186.54 million.
The company said all other terms and conditions of the original EPC contract remain unchanged and continue to be in full force.
Pekat noted that there are no material changes to the financial effects or risk factors arising from the supplemental agreements beyond those previously disclosed when the original contract was announced.
The expanded project reinforces Pekat’s position in Malaysia’s growing renewable energy sector and aligns with increasing demand for large-scale solar generation capacity as the country accelerates its energy transition agenda.
Upon completion, the 135MWac facility in Kulai is expected to rank among the larger utility-scale solar projects undertaken by the group and contribute to the expansion of renewable energy generation in Johor.
