Bank Rakyat Chairman: Anwar’s Credibility Boosts Japanese Investors’ Confidence In Malaysia

Bank Rakyat chairman Datuk Mohd Irwan Mohd Mubarak said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s credibility and leadership have strengthened foreign investor confidence in Malaysia, particularly among Japanese investors, following the Prime Minister’s official visit to Japan.

Irwan said the relationships built by Anwar with the international business community have helped position Malaysia as a trusted and competitive investment destination both in Asia and globally.

According to Irwan, Japanese investors he met during the visit viewed Malaysia positively not only because of its economic fundamentals but also due to political stability, policy clarity and confidence in the country’s leadership amid ongoing global uncertainties, including tensions in the Middle East.

He noted that Japanese investors are known for taking a long-term approach to investments, placing significant emphasis on stability, integrity, discipline and continuity in government policies when making investment decisions.

The three-day visit, which concluded yesterday, saw Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, holding a roundtable meeting with 29 selected Japanese business leaders to discuss investment opportunities and economic cooperation.

Irwan said the MADANI Economic framework has contributed to a more conducive business environment, encouraging interest in strategic sectors such as high technology, semiconductors, renewable energy, the digital economy and advanced manufacturing.

He added that the longstanding diplomatic and economic relationship between Malaysia and Japan continues to create new opportunities for collaboration that could generate quality employment, facilitate technology transfer and support human capital development.

The growing interest from Japanese investors, he said, is in line with the government’s efforts to enhance Malaysia’s competitiveness, accelerate economic reforms and drive more sustainable and inclusive growth.
