The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a widespread weather alert warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds expected to affect multiple states.
In Peninsular Malaysia, the warning covers Perlis, Kedah and Penang, as well as several districts in Perak including Kerian, Larut, Matang dan Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim.
In Pahang, Cameron Highlands is affected, while in Selangor the alert includes Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Hulu Langat. Kuala Lumpur is also under the warning.
In East Malaysia, MetMalaysia said Limbang in Sarawak is expected to be impacted.
“In Sabah, the affected areas include interior districts such as Sipitang, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort and Tambunan, as well as the west coast, Tawau (Tawau and Lahad Datu), Sandakan (Tongod, Kinabatangan and Sandakan) and Kudat,” the weather department added.
Authorities have advised the public to remain alert as adverse weather conditions may develop rapidly.
