Diesel Price Drops 30 sen, RON97 And RON95 Unchanged Despite Oil Dipping Below US$80

The retail price of diesel in Peninsular Malaysia will drop by 30 sen to RM4.37 per litre for the week of June 18 to June 24, 2026. Meanwhile, the retail prices for RON97 and RON95 petrol will remain unchanged at RM4.35 and RM3.72 per litre respectively.

According to a statement released by the Ministry of Finance (MOF) today, the price reduction for diesel aligns with the movement of average global market prices from the preceding week, calculated using the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM) formula.

For subsidised fuels, the price of RON95 under the BUDI95 program remains unchanged at RM1.99 per litre for more than 14 million eligible recipients. Over in East Malaysia, diesel prices in Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan are maintained at the capped rate of RM2.15 per litre.

Additionally, fuel prices under the Subsidised Petrol Control System (SKPS) will remain at RM2.05 per litre, while the Subsidized Diesel Control System (SKDS) stays fixed at RM2.15 per litre.

Surprisingly, petrol price for ROM97 and RON95 was unchanged despite oil price has come down to a three month low at US$79 a barrel, the drop is respect of the potential reopening of the Straits of Hormuz and a war peace deal between US and Iran this Friday.
