Third Port Terminal In Klang Now Waiting For State Land Feedback

The development of the Third Port Terminal in Klang is currently awaiting feedback from the Selangor state government on land matters before construction can proceed, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said.

Loke said the Transport Ministry, the Selangor government and the private sector are working together to resolve land-related issues linked to the project on Carey Island.

“Right now, we are dealing with the Selangor State Government to first resolve the land issue.

“The project will be implemented under a Build-Operate-Transfer model. We hope to start construction this year, but the land issue must be resolved first,” he said.

The government approved the Carey Island Third Port Klang Terminal project in May, with the development expected to strengthen Malaysia’s position as a regional port and logistics hub.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has also directed relevant agencies to expedite the implementation of the strategic project.

Previously, Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari said the state had identified 1,699.68 hectares of land for the development, including 1,011.71 hectares of seabed managed by PKNS and 687.96 hectares of coastal land owned by Yayasan Selangor.
