Davidde Ong Steps Into Leadership Role At Orion Residence Kuala Lumpur

Veteran hotelier Davidde Ong has been appointed General Manager of Orion Residence Kuala Lumpur, bringing more than three decades of hospitality leadership experience to the 158-room property under Registry Collection Hotels.

With a career spanning Singapore, Mainland China, Thailand and Malaysia, Ong has built a reputation across both operational management and financial leadership, overseeing hotel performance, asset optimisation and guest experience strategies for some of the industry’s most recognised brands.

He joins Orion Residence Kuala Lumpur from Oakwood Hotel & Residence Kuala Lumpur, where he served as Task Force General Manager and guided the property through a key transitional period. Before that, he spent six years with Banyan Group in Malaysia, serving as Hotel Manager at Angsana Teluk Bahang, Penang, and as Executive Assistant Manager at Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur and Pavilion Hotel Kuala Lumpur, where he played a central role in multi-property operations and service excellence initiatives.

Ong’s earlier career was rooted in finance, holding senior positions with Marriott International and Starwood Hotels & Resorts. His portfolio includes roles such as Director of Finance at The Ritz-Carlton Langkawi, Financial Controller at Le Méridien Chiang Mai, and Sheraton Qingyuan Lion Lake Resort in Guangdong, China, where he was part of the pre-opening team.

The breadth of his experience across luxury hospitality brands has given him a rare blend of commercial acumen, operational expertise and strategic leadership—skills that have become increasingly important in a competitive hospitality landscape.

Academically, Ong holds a Master of International Hospitality Management from Taylor’s University and the University of Toulouse. He is also a Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA) and holds a Certification in Hotel Industry Analytics (CHIA) from AHLEI.
