The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has opened a disciplinary investigation against a policewoman who went viral over allegations that she insulted local residents while travelling in China recently.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail said the officer remains on active duty pending the outcome of the investigation.
“I urge all parties to remain calm. PDRM will conduct a thorough investigation. Not only from a disciplinary perspective, but if there are any legal violations, appropriate action will be taken,” he said.
Mohd Khalid reminded all police personnel to uphold proper conduct at all times, whether in Malaysia or abroad, stressing that they remain bound by the force’s regulations and standard operating procedures even when off duty and out of uniform.
The controversy involving the influencer, who is also a police officer, attracted widespread international media attention after she was accused of making offensive remarks while covering her nose in a public place in China.
