The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning, forecasting heavy rain and strong winds across several states in Peninsular Malaysia until 4pm today.
Affected areas include Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Perak, Kelantan (Jeli, Kuala Krai and Gua Musang), Terengganu, Pahang, as well as Negeri Sembilan and Johor (Segamat, Kluang, Mersing, Pontian, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru).
MetMalaysia said the warning is issued when signs indicate thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour are imminent or expected to persist for more than an hour.
The warning is valid for up to six hours from the time of issuance.
