The Civil Defence Force (APM) will conduct a public warning siren test on June 30 to ensure its Public Warning System (PWS) is fully operational and ready for use during emergencies and disasters ahead of the rainy season.
In a statement today, APM said the test will be carried out at 10am around its headquarters in Sungai Merab, Kajang, Selangor, as part of routine maintenance and periodic inspections to verify the effectiveness of the warning system.
The agency said the exercise is aimed at ensuring the sirens can deliver emergency alerts to the public quickly and accurately when needed.
Residents within a five-kilometre radius of the siren location, including Bandar Baru Bangi, Sungai Merab Luar and Kampung Abu Bakar Baginda, have been advised not to panic upon hearing the sirens during the exercise.
APM stressed that the test is purely a technical drill and does not involve any actual emergency.
The agency also encouraged the public to familiarise themselves with the PWS sirens and raise community awareness on disaster preparedness.
