The government has expanded the Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS) to include company-owned pickup trucks and jeeps, extending targeted diesel subsidies to more micro and small businesses.
Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said applications for the new Company Private Transport (Jeeps and Pickups) category opened today, with successful applicants eligible to receive subsidised diesel from July 15, subject to approval and fleet card ownership.
The new category is in addition to the existing Public Land Transport and Consumer Goods Land Transport sectors, bringing the total number of eligible vehicle and usage classes under the SKDS to 35.
Under the expanded scheme, eligible vehicles must be registered as company-owned vehicles under the AE (Company Private) usage code in the Road Transport Department’s (JPJ) MySikap system.
Businesses must also be registered as sole proprietorships or partnerships with the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) or the relevant local authorities in Sabah and Sarawak.
Armizan said the expansion is aimed at supporting registered micro and small businesses that rely on pickup trucks and jeeps for their daily operations.
Eligible business owners are encouraged to submit their applications through the MySubsidi portal as soon as possible.
The SKDS is one of several targeted diesel subsidy mechanisms introduced by the government. Other schemes include the Finance Ministry’s BUDI Diesel and BUDI Agri-Komoditi programmes, as well as the Fishermen’s Diesel Subsidy Scheme administered by the Agriculture and Food Security Ministry.
