Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected to lash parts of Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor and Sarawak until 12pm today, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department.
The warning covers Seremban, Port Dickson, Kuala Pilah, Rembau and Tampin in Negeri Sembilan, the whole of Melaka, as well as Tangkak, Muar and Batu Pahat in Johor.
In Sarawak, the affected areas are Sri Aman, Betong, Pakan and Julau in Sarikei, Kanowit in Sibu, and Song in Kapit.
MetMalaysia said the warning was issued after weather conditions indicated thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour were imminent or expected to persist for more than an hour.
The department noted that thunderstorm warnings are short-term advisories, with each alert remaining valid for no more than six hours.
