Singapore shares opened the week on a cautious note, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) edging lower in early trade as investors digested mixed performances among heavyweight blue-chip counters.
As at 9.04am, the STI slipped 2.30 points or 0.04% to 5,241.99.
Market breadth remained positive, with 106 gainers outpacing 77 losers after about 60.67 million securities worth S$75.79 million changed hands.
Among the index heavyweights, DBS Group eased 0.12% to S$66.68, while OCBC Bank traded at S$25.33 and United Overseas Bank (UOB) stood at S$40.32 in early dealings.
Outside the banking sector, Singapore Airlines traded at S$7.57, Sembcorp Industries changed hands at S$5.84, Yangzijiang Shipbuilding was at S$3.56 and AEM Holdings stood at S$10.18.
In the derivatives market, SGX’s MSCI Singapore Index Futures for July were quoted at 488.55, while FTSE China A50 Index Futures for July stood at 14,887.00.
Regional exposure was also reflected in Nikkei 225 Index Futures for September at 69,960.00 and FTSE China H50 Index Futures for July at 14,637.50.
Meanwhile, among SGX’s broader benchmarks, the iEdge Singapore Next 50 Index stood at 1,521.22 while the iEdge S-REIT Index was at 1,049.93, reflecting a subdued start to trading.
