Johor voters may face wet weather on the eve of the state election, with the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) forecasting thunderstorms and heavy rain in several areas.
In an advisory issued at 4.30pm on Friday, MetMalaysia said thunderstorms and heavy rain were expected until 7pm in several parts of Johor, including Kluang, Mersing and Kota Tinggi.
The weather warning comes as Johor prepares for polling day on Saturday, with voters heading to the polls to choose representatives for the state assembly.
Besides Johor, thunderstorms were also forecast in parts of Kedah, Pahang, Selangor, Sarawak, Sabah and the Federal Territory of Labuan.
Affected areas include Langkawi in Kedah; Raub, Bentong, Temerloh and Rompin in Pahang; Hulu Selangor and Gombak in Selangor; as well as several districts in Sarawak and Sabah.
In Sarawak, areas affected include Bukit Mabong in Kapit, Telang Usan and Marudi in Miri, and Limbang.
For Sabah, the warning covers Sipitang, Kuala Penyu and Beaufort in the Interior region, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran and Kota Belud in the West Coast region, Lahad Datu in Tawau, as well as Kinabatangan and Sandakan.
