Leader Energy Breaks Ground On 99mwac Kedah Solar Project

Leader Energy Group Bhd has begun construction of its 99MWac Leader Solar Energy III (LSE III) project in Baling, Kedah, a large-scale solar development designed to strengthen Malaysia’s renewable energy (RE) capacity and support the nation’s transition towards cleaner energy.

The groundbreaking ceremony officially marked the start of construction for LSE III, which was awarded under the Large-Scale Solar 5+ (LSS5+) Programme and will be developed by Leader Energy’s wholly owned subsidiary, Leader Solar Energy III Sdn Bhd.

Targeted for commercial operations in 2027, the project is expected to provide additional RE capacity to the national grid while contributing towards the goals outlined under the National Energy Transition Roadmap.

Leader Energy Executive Deputy Chairman and Group Chief Executive Officer Datuk Sean H’ng said the commencement of LSE III further strengthens the group’s presence in Kedah, following the development of LSE (38MWp) and LSE II (29.4MWp), which were delivered under Malaysia’s inaugural Large-Scale Solar programme in 2018 and 2019.
