Sunway University Campus Game Raises RM4,880 For Malaysian Association For The Blind

A campus claw machine game has helped raise RM4,880 for the Malaysian Association for the Blind (MAB) as students and staff at Sunway University turned a week-long activity into a fundraising effort.

The “Claws For A Cause” activation brought together the Sunway community through a prize-winning game sponsored by Space Panda, with proceeds channelled towards supporting MAB and its work in empowering individuals with visual impairments.

Sunway University President and Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Sibrandes Poppema said the initiative reflected the university’s commitment to creating social impact beyond academic achievement.

“At Sunway University, our mission extends beyond academic excellence. Initiatives such as Claws for A Cause reflect our commitment as a mission-driven, 5th generation university to create meaningful impact through education, research, innovation, and community engagement. We are grateful to Space Panda and everyone who contributed to this effort. Together, we have demonstrated how collective action and compassion can create positive change and make a tangible difference in the lives of others,” he said.

Space Panda Director Marcus said the company was honoured to support the initiative as part of Sunway University’s Campus With A Conscience efforts.

“We are honoured to be part of Campus With A Conscience and to have the opportunity to give back to the community through our support for the Malaysian Association for the Blind. At Space Panda, we believe that even small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference in someone’s life. Being able to contribute to an organisation that empowers and supports individuals with visual impairments is incredibly meaningful to us,” he said.

The initiative highlighted how simple community activities can be transformed into opportunities to support charitable causes through collective participation.
