PM Extends Condolences On Passing Of Qatar’s Father Amir

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has extended Malaysia’s deepest condolences to Qatar following the passing of the country’s Father Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

In a statement, Anwar conveyed sympathies to Qatar’s Amir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Qatari Royal Family and the people of Qatar on behalf of Malaysia.

He paid tribute to Sheikh Hamad’s 18-year reign, saying the late ruler transformed Qatar into a nation of global significance through remarkable economic progress while strengthening its influence in regional and international affairs.

He also described Sheikh Hamad’s decision to hand over power to a new generation in 2013 as a rare act of statesmanship.

Anwar said the Father Amir was a steadfast friend of Malaysia and a respected figure across the Muslim world.

He concluded by praying that Allah SWT bless Sheikh Hamad’s soul and grant strength and comfort to the Qatari Royal Family and the people of Qatar during this time of mourning.
