The Chartered Governance Institute of Malaysia (CGIM) has elected governance professional Dipa Kaur as its new president, succeeding Dato’ Akbar Moidunny, who will serve as immediate past president.
The appointment marks a leadership transition at the professional body representing chartered secretaries and governance professionals in Malaysia, with Dipa set to lead the institute as governance standards continue evolving alongside digital transformation and sustainability priorities.
Dipa has been involved in CGIM’s leadership since 2021 and was appointed deputy president in July 2024. She also chaired the taskforce that developed the Corporate Governance Guide for Non-Listed Companies, published in 2023, and represents the institute on several national governance and regulatory consultative platforms.
Professionally, she is the company secretary of the Maxis Berhad Group of Companies, providing governance and advisory support to the board and senior management. She has more than 30 years of experience in corporate law, governance, regulatory compliance and company secretarial practice across listed and private companies.
CGIM chief executive officer Justin J. Anthony said the institute would continue strengthening the governance profession under Dipa’s leadership by preparing members for changing regulatory requirements and advancing governance practices in a digital and sustainability-driven environment.
The institute also announced its 2026 council leadership, with Dr Nandita Choudhury and Associate Professor Noorbijan Abu Bakar serving as vice presidents, while Tan Ai Ning and Dalvinderjit Kaur joined the council as newly elected members.
