Gamuda Berhad has announced a further delay in the execution of the proposed Bulk Water Supply Agreement (BWSA) for the Northern Perak water infrastructure project, following a request from Perbadanan Bekalan Air Pulau Pinang Sdn Bhd (PBAPP).
The construction and engineering group said it and Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Perak (PKNPk) have agreed to PBAPP’s request to defer the signing of the agreement to a date yet to be determined.
The BWSA forms part of the proposed development of water treatment and distribution infrastructure in northern Perak, which will enable the supply of treated water to Penang using excess raw water resources.
The latest extension follows earlier revisions to the signing deadline.
Gamuda had announced on 15 May 2026 that the deadline for executing the agreement was extended to 3 July 2026, before a further extension to 13 July 2026 was disclosed on 3 July 2026.
The project originated from a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on 6 November 2025 between PBAPP, PKNPk and Gamuda to jointly pursue the proposed bulk treated water supply initiative.
Despite the latest postponement, Gamuda said the delay is not expected to affect the overall implementation schedule of the project.
