Malaysia and Thailand have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening defence cooperation and addressing regional security challenges following a meeting between Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin and Thailand’s Defence Minister Lieutenant General Adul Boonthumjaroen in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday.

The Defence Ministry said both ministers discussed efforts to promote peace and stability across Southeast Asia, while recognising the importance of closer collaboration between the two neighbouring countries.

The meeting was held during Adul’s introductory visit to Wisma Pertahanan as part of his official visit to Malaysia, with Mohamed Khaled congratulating Adul on his appointment as Thailand’s Defence Minister.

Both sides also expressed support for Malaysia’s role in facilitating dialogue to ease the ongoing border conflict between Thailand and Cambodia, acknowledging efforts to encourage communication and regional stability.

As part of the visit, Adul also toured the National Aerospace and Defence Industries (NADI) Group of Companies, where both parties exchanged views on potential areas of cooperation and explored opportunities for future collaboration.

The visit underscores continued defence ties between Malaysia and Thailand as both countries seek to enhance coordination in addressing evolving regional security issues.
