Netflix Is Turning Monopoly Into A Real Estate Showdown

Monopoly is leaving the game board behind and heading to Netflix as a new reality competition series.

The show will feature 12 contestants competing in a life-size version of the classic property-trading game for a US$2 million prize. Players will take on the roles of real estate investors, buying properties, negotiating deals and building their fortunes while trying to avoid elimination.

The format will recreate key elements from the original game, including property ownership, financial strategy and the risk of going bankrupt. Contestants will be removed one by one until the last remaining player takes the prize.

Set to premiere in fall 2027, Monopoly is part of Netflix’s growing lineup of unscripted shows based on familiar franchises. The platform has also developed reality adaptations inspired by existing films and games, including The Golden Ticket, based on Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Studio Lambert, the production company behind reality competition shows such as Squid Game: The Challenge and The Circle, is taking charge of production. Executive producers include representatives from Studio Lambert and Hasbro Entertainment.
