Malaysia will immediately deport any Israeli nationals found in the country, reaffirming its longstanding policy of not recognising Israel, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Anwar said security agencies were conducting a thorough investigation into allegations that Israeli nationals had entered Malaysia.
“We are investigating… we will not allow it. If there are any, action must be taken. If there are Israeli nationals, since we do not recognise Israel, they will be deported immediately,” he said.
Anwar was responding to media reports alleging that Israeli nationals using dual citizenship documents had been detected in Johor.
He said all relevant agencies were handling the matter and expressed confidence that Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir would provide further details.
On Tuesday, the Johor government urged the Home Ministry and relevant enforcement agencies to investigate the operations of the Network School in Forest City following allegations that the programme involved Israeli nationals.
Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the individuals were believed to have entered Malaysia using passports issued by a second country to participate in the programme, prompting public concern.
The allegations gained traction after claims circulated on social media that foreign nationals holding Israeli passports and citizenship documents from other countries had attempted to enter or were already in Malaysia for specific purposes.
