Spain produced a composed and clinical performance to beat France 2-0 in their FIFA World Cup 2026 semi-final at Dallas Stadium on 14 July, booking a place in the final with goals from Mikel Oyarzabal and Pedro Porro.
France entered the match with high expectations and Kylian Mbappe offered a threat on the break, but Spain controlled the key moments and frustrated Les Bleus with disciplined defending and sharp ball recovery. The breakthrough came in the 22nd minute when Lamine Yamal was brought down in the box, allowing Oyarzabal to convert the penalty past Mike Maignan.
Spain doubled their advantage in the 58th minute when Porro finished a flowing move with Dani Olmo, drilling the ball into the bottom corner to seal the result. France tried to respond through Desire Doue and Rayan Cherki, but Unai Simon’s sweeping work and a crucial Marc Cucurella challenge on Mbappe helped keep Spain’s clean sheet intact.
The victory sends Spain into the final, where they will face the winner of England vs Argentina at New York New Jersey Stadium on Sunday. It also extends an impressive tournament run for La Roja, who have now kept six clean sheets in seven matches and conceded only twice in North America.
Spain coach Luis de la Fuente praised his players’ commitment and unity, while Porro described the achievement as a dream come true and credited the squad for the performance. France, meanwhile, will still have a chance to salvage bronze on Saturday, with Mbappe likely to remain central to their hopes.
