Kylian Mbappe retained the Golden Boot at the FIFA World Cup 2026 after finishing as the tournament’s top scorer with 10 goals, while champions Spain swept the other major individual honours.
The France captain sealed back-to-back Golden Boot wins with a brace in the 6-4 bronze-medal defeat by England, adding to the award he claimed at Qatar 2022. He finished two goals ahead of Argentina’s Lionel Messi and also took home the Bronze Ball.
His tally of 10 goals at this year’s World Cup also made him the first player since West Germany’s Gerd Muller in 1970 to score 10 goals at a single World Cup. Only France’s Just Fontaine with 13 in 1958 and Hungary’s Sandor Kocsis with 11 in 1954 have scored more in one edition of the tournament.
Spain, fresh from their 1-0 extra-time victory over Argentina in the final, dominated the remaining awards as their captain Rodri was crowned Golden Ball winner after anchoring La Roja’s midfield throughout the tournament, while Unai Simon claimed the Golden Glove after recording a World Cup-record seven clean sheets and conceding just once.
Teenage centre-back Pau Cubarsi was named Best Young Player after starting all eight matches and helping Spain secure their second world title. The 19-year-old also became the first defender to win the award.
