Nvidia and South Korea’s SK Group have announced an artificial intelligence infrastructure initiative worth more than US$500 billion, covering large-scale AI data centres and advanced memory technology development.
The partnership includes a long-term agreement between Nvidia and SK Hynix to secure next-generation memory supplies and jointly develop high-bandwidth memory (HBM) for AI training, AI agents and physical AI applications.
SK Telecom, part of SK Group, plans to build a 2-gigawatt AI data centre powered by Nvidia’s Vera Rubin chips and SK Hynix’s HBM4 memory. The first facility is expected to begin operations in 2027, Nvidia said.
The companies are also working with Naver and Brookfield to expand Naver’s AI data centre in South Korea, as demand grows for computing infrastructure capable of supporting advanced AI systems.
Reuters reported that the initiative reflects a broader push by technology companies to secure AI hardware supply chains and expand data centre capacity as AI development accelerates globally.
The agreement comes as chipmakers and cloud infrastructure providers invest heavily in specialised processors and memory technologies needed to support increasingly complex AI workloads.
