HSS Engineers Secures RM34 Million Consultancy Role For Northern Perak Water Supply Scheme

HSS Engineers Bhd (HEB) said its associate, SMHB Sdn Bhd, has secured a RM34 million consultancy appointment for the Northern Perak Water Supply Scheme (NPWSS), a major infrastructure project designed to channel raw water from Sungai Perak to improve water supply in northern Perak while enabling the sale of surplus treated water to Penang.

HEB said SMHB accepted a Letter of Appointment from Gamuda Engineering Sdn Bhd for the Lead Design Consultancy (LDC) and Detailed Design Consultancy 4 (DDC4) services package.

The contract carries a total value of RM34.01 million, inclusive of service tax.

Under the appointment, SMHB will serve as the lead design consultant for the NPWSS and provide detailed engineering design services for the project’s water treatment plant.

Its responsibilities include preparing preliminary, pre-final and final designs, providing support during the tender stage, as well as offering technical assistance throughout the construction period and defects liability phase.

The consultancy contract commenced in June 2026 and is scheduled for completion over 66 months.

HEB said the project is expected to contribute positively to the group’s revenue, earnings and net assets over the duration of the contract.
