The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning for parts of Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor, with adverse weather conditions expected to persist until 4pm today.
Areas under the alert in Selangor are Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Klang, Petaling, Kuala Langat and Sepang.
In Negeri Sembilan, the warning covers Seremban, Port Dickson, Rembau and Tampin, while the entire state of Melaka is also expected to be affected.
In Johor, the warning applies to Batu Pahat, Kluang, Kulai and Kota Tinggi.
MetMalaysia said the warning was issued following indications of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour or expected to continue for more than one hour.
The department noted that thunderstorm warnings are short-term advisories, valid for no longer than six hours from the time they are issued. Motorists and the public in affected areas are advised to remain vigilant and plan their journeys accordingly.
