Hong Kong Stocks Edge Higher, Cap July With 13% Surge

Hong Kong stocks eked out a gain on July 31, as strength in HSBC and selected technology counters offset a sharp sell-off in Xiaomi.

The Hang Seng Index rose 25.55 points, or 0.10%, to 25,884.43 after trading between 25,622.92 and 25,917.20. The benchmark surged 13.13% in July, its largest monthly point gain since September 2024.

The Hang Seng Tech Index added 0.53% to 4,829.22, while the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index fell 0.38% to 8,612.15.

Lenovo jumped 9.75%, while HSBC advanced 2.25% to HK$168.20. Xiaomi was the biggest blue-chip drag, tumbling 7.28%, while Budweiser Brewing APAC slid 6.67%.
