EPF Disposes RM63 Million Worth Of IHH Shares

The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) has pared down its stake in IHH Healthcare Bhd after disposing of a net 15.26 million shares in the healthcare group on July 28.

A filing with Bursa Malaysia showed EPF sold a total of 19.32 million shares through two direct interest accounts while acquiring 4.05 million shares via several investment mandates, resulting in a net disposal of approximately 15.26 million shares.

Based on IHH Healthcare’s closing price of RM4.14 on July 28, the net disposal is valued at about RM63.2 million.

The transactions comprised the disposal of 15.74 million shares held under Citigroup Nominees (Tempatan) Sdn Bhd for the EPF Board and 3.58 million shares under the EPF Board-IC account.

The retirement fund simultaneously acquired shares through several investment mandates, including 1.87 million shares under AHAM Asset Management, 2.05 million shares under Asian Islamic IC, and 135,400 shares under Franklin Templeton Islamic IC.

Following the transactions, EPF’s direct interest in IHH Healthcare stood at 1.222 billion shares, representing a 13.83% stake.

The bulk of EPF’s holdings remain under its primary nominee account, which holds 815.99 million shares, followed by the EPF Board-IC account with 240.13 million shares. The remaining shares are held through various external fund managers and investment mandates, including Amundi, Nomura, Templeton, AHAM Asset Management and other institutional portfolios.

The filing stated that the change in shareholding arose from a combination of acquisitions and disposals conducted on the same day.

EPF’s notice was dated July 29, while IHH Healthcare received the notification on July 31.
