Schneider Electric and Sunway University have signed a five-year memorandum of understanding to develop industry-ready talent in energy technology, digitalisation, automation and sustainability, supporting Malaysia’s shift towards a more digital and sustainable economy.
The partnership will bridge the gap between classroom learning and workplace expectations by exposing students to real-world industry needs and strengthening links between academia and business.
Under the agreement, both parties will explore curriculum advisory, industry knowledge exchange, graduate employability and alumni engagement. Students will gain access to internships, industry talks, mentoring, career exposure and applied learning opportunities.
Schneider Electric Malaysia country president Eugene Quah said the partnership would help students combine engineering expertise with digital fluency, sustainability awareness and practical problem-solving skills.
Sunway University president Professor Sibrandes Poppema, meanwhile, said the collaboration would improve graduate employability by giving students greater access to industry expertise and fast-evolving sectors.
The initiative comes as Malaysia’s New Industrial Master Plan 2030 and National Energy Transition Roadmap drive demand for skilled workers in energy management, automation, digitalisation and sustainability.
