The Public Service Department (JPA) has opened applications for the 2026 B40 Sponsorship Programme (DB40) for eligible 2025 SPM leavers from low-income families to pursue diploma studies at selected higher education institutions in Malaysia.
Applications opened on Aug 3 at 2pm and will close on Aug 16 at 5pm through the JPA Sponsorship Portal.
The programme provides sponsorship for diploma studies at public universities, polytechnics, TVET MARA and selected public skills training institutions in strategic fields including engineering and technology, technical and vocational education and training, social sciences and humanities, science and architecture.
According to JPA, applicants must be Malaysian citizens who sat for the 2025 SPM examination for the first time. They must also be below 19 years old or below 20 for transition students as at Dec 31 of the examination year and be free from chronic or infectious diseases that could affect their studies.
Applicants must also come from families with a per capita income of RM5,249 a month or below.
“Additionally, the parents and/or applicants must not be blacklisted by JPA or be subject to legal action by JPA,” according to the statement.
JPA said blacklisting status can be checked through the eSILA system from Aug 3 to 12.
It encouraged eligible 2025 SPM leavers to apply within the stipulated period.
