Socso: 24-Hour Coverage Uptake Rose Threefold In July

Benefit claims under the Social Security Organisation’s (Socso) LINDUNG 24 Jam Scheme more than tripled in July, underscoring growing demand for protection beyond working hours.

According to Socso, there are 2,135 claims received during the month, up from 616 in June. More than 90% were approved within five days, with RM3.45 million paid to 2,508 recipients.

“Rehabilitation equipment and medical implants accounted for the largest share of payments at more than RM2.5 million, helping contributors manage treatment costs and undergo implant procedures without delay.

“A further RM800,000 was paid in temporary disability benefits to replace lost income and support workers and their families during medical leave. Other payments covered medical reimbursements, funeral expenses and dependants’ benefits,” Socso said.

Since its launch on June 1, Socso shared that the voluntary scheme has received 2,751 claims, averaging 45 cases a day. Total payments have reached RM4.69 million, excluding more than RM2 million in long-term benefits for eligible family members.
