Bursa Malaysia closed marginally lower on Aug 10 as investors remained largely on the sidelines amid uncertainty over US monetary policy and geopolitical developments.
At 5pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) eased 0.38 point, or 0.02%, to 1,735.37 from its close of 1,735.75 on Aug 7. The benchmark traded between 1,730.35 and 1,738.97 during the session.
Broader indices, however, finished firmer, with the FBM 70 gained 146.86 points, or 0.81%, to 18,373.38, while the F4GBM rose 2.45 points, or 0.24%, to 1,044.11.
The FBM Emas advanced 34.22 points, or 0.27%, to 12,868.47, while the FBM Shariah climbed 52.28 points, or 0.41%, to 12,715.51.
Among the most active counters, Dagang NeXchange Bhd rose three sen to 50 sen on about 150.3 million shares traded, making it the day’s most actively traded stock.
NationGate Holdings Bhd gained 11 sen to RM1.54 on roughly 66.8 million shares, while Pegasus Heights Bhd was unchanged at half a sen with about 63.5 million shares traded.
HHRG Bhd added three sen to 15 sen on 61.7 million shares, while VS Industry Bhd gained one sen to 25 sen on around 49.9 million shares.
Market turnover eased to 3.49 billion shares worth RM2.55 billion compared to 3.55 billion shares valued at RM3.47 billion on Aug 7.
