Sheng Long Aqua Technology (M) Sdn Bhd is investing about RM140 million in the first phase of a new aquaculture feed manufacturing facility in Kamunting, Perak, marking the group’s first production base in Malaysia.
The facility, scheduled to begin operations in 2028, will house two shrimp-feed and two fish-feed production lines, with an annual capacity of 150,000 metric tonnes. It is expected to create more than 100 jobs while supporting growing demand in Malaysia and neighbouring markets.
Sheng Long is a subsidiary of China-based Guangdong Haid Group Co Ltd, which has operations across Southeast and South Asia. The Perak plant will become the group’s 10th feed manufacturing facility and its first in Malaysia.
MIDA Chief Executive Officer Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid said the investment would strengthen Malaysia’s agri-food ecosystem by boosting local manufacturing, reducing reliance on imported feed and reinforcing food security and supply-chain resilience.
The project comes as Malaysia’s food manufacturing sector continues to attract investment, with RM3.3 billion in approved investments in the first quarter of 2026, out of RM24.1 billion approved for the manufacturing sector overall.
Sheng Long general manager Chuang Jie Cheng said the company aims to provide higher-quality aquaculture feed, a more reliable supply chain and technical support to improve farmers’ productivity and profitability.
