Bursa Sees Split Session As Nestlé Rallies, Plantation Counters Retreat

The stock market movement ended with a mixed performance as strong gains in selected consumer and banking names were offset by declines in plantation-linked counters.

Market breadth remained slightly negative, with 581 losers against 562 gainers, while 585 counters were unchanged.

Among the decliners, United Plantations Bhd fell 68 sen to RM33.20, making it the biggest loser of the session. Batu Kawan Bhd dropped 52 sen to RM20.88, Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd lost 32 sen to RM21.52 and Petronas Dagangan Bhd declined 34 sen to RM19.

Bintulu Port Holdings Bhd slipped 15 sen to RM5.40.

On the upside, Nestlé (M) Bhd led the gainers, jumping RM3 to RM102.60, while Hong Leong Bank Bhd added 42 sen to RM22.74. SAM Engineering & Equipment (M) Bhd gained 25 sen to RM4.58, Heineken Malaysia Bhd rose 20 sen to RM17.06 and Greatech Technology Bhd advanced 13 sen to RM2.74.

Turnover eased to 3.43 billion units from 3.49 billion in the previous trading session, although trading value rose to RM2.94 billion from RM2.55 billion.
