EPF Acquires 9.27 Million Sunway Healthcare Shares

EPF has increased its direct stake in Sunway Healthcare Holdings Bhd to 6.56% following the acquisition of an additional 9.27 million shares.

The acquisition involved 5.42 million shares and 3.85 million shares, both on Aug 11, 2026, bringing EPF’s direct shareholding in the healthcare group to 754.04 million shares, equivalent to a 6.555% stake.

The shares were acquired through Citigroup Nominees (Tempatan) Sdn Bhd, with the holdings registered under EPF and EPF-IC.

Following the transaction, EPF remains a substantial shareholder of Sunway Healthcare, with no indirect or deemed interest reported.

EPF’s 754.04 million shares are held through several nominee accounts, including 591.94 million shares registered under Citigroup Nominees (Tempatan) Sdn Bhd – Employees Provident Fund Board and 150.88 million shares under Citigroup Nominees (Tempatan) Sdn Bhd – Employees Provident Fund Board-IC.

The remaining holdings are registered through nominee accounts associated with AHAM Asset Management, CIMB Private Banking, Templeton and CGS CIMB Securities.

The acquisition comes less than five months after Sunway Healthcare was admitted to the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities on March 18, 2026.

The company operates within Malaysia’s growing private healthcare sector, although the announcement did not provide further details on EPF’s investment rationale or the value of the shares acquired.

The substantial shareholder notice was dated Aug 12 and received by Sunway Healthcare on Aug 14.

Sunway Healthcare share price closed at 2.01 on Friday, however its still down from its all this peak.
