The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) recorded a 44% year-on-year increase in investment income to RM29.77 billion for the second quarter ended June 30, 2026, driven by stronger global equity markets.
The latest performance lifted the fund’s first-half 2026 investment income to RM57.5 billion, up 48% from RM38.92 billion in the corresponding period last year.
The 2Q26 investment income compares with RM20.61 billion recorded in the same quarter a year earlier.
EPF chief executive officer Ahmad Zulqarnain Onn said the fund had capitalised on strong global equity markets while maintaining a disciplined, long-term investment approach.
However, he cautioned members against assuming that the strong first-half performance would be repeated in the second half of the year, given elevated market and geopolitical risks.
Meanwhile, total EPF contributions increased 8.5% year-on-year to RM33.87 billion in 2Q26, compared with RM31.21 billion in the same quarter last year.
The latest quarter follows a strong first quarter, when EPF recorded investment income of RM27.73 billion, representing a 51% year-on-year increase. Total contributions in 1Q26 rose 13.3% to RM38.01 billion.
With the latest results, EPF’s investment income for the first six months of 2026 has reached RM57.5 billion, putting the fund on a stronger footing compared with the same period in 2025.
