Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd (MPI) topped Bursa Malaysia’s losers, sliding RM1.92 to RM46.10, as decliners continued to outnumber gainers in a broadly weaker market.
Market breadth remained negative, with 701 losers against 478 gainers, while 563 counters were unchanged, 1,131 untraded and 16 suspended.
Other biggest decliners for Aug 19 include United Plantations Bhd who fell 60 sen to RM32, Heineken Malaysia Bhd who dropped 22 sen to RM16.30, MI Technovation Bhd who slipped 20 sen to RM6.25 and Johor Plantations Group Bhd who declined 17 sen to RM1.88.
On the upside, Batu Kawan Bhd and Dutch Lady Milk Industries Bhd jointly led the gainers as each rising 44 sen to RM21 and RM31.94 respectively.
Nestle (M) Bhd advanced 30 sen to RM104, while Ayer Holdings Bhd and Malayan Cement Bhd each gained 25 sen to RM7.50 and RM6.60.
Trading activity eased, with turnover falling to 3.31 billion units valued at RM2.92 billion compared to 3.74 billion units worth RM2.91 billion on Aug 18.
