MPI Leads Bursa Losers, PetDag Tops Gainers

Selling pressure dominated Bursa Malaysia on Aug 24, with Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd (MPI) leading the decliners while Petronas Dagangan Bhd (PetDag) emerged as the session’s top gainer.

Market breadth remained firmly negative as 714 counters declined against 482 gainers, while 539 were unchanged, 1,139 untraded and 46 suspended.

MPI topped the losers list after tumbling RM1.70 to RM41.50, followed by Allianz Malaysia Bhd, which fell 58 sen to RM21.70. UMS Integration Ltd lost 35 sen to RM8.29, while KPJ Healthcare Bhd slid 32 sen to RM2.80.

Kelington Group Bhd rounded out the five biggest decliners, shedding 25 sen to RM8.36.

On the upside, PetDag gained 38 sen to RM20, making it the day’s strongest gainer. MISC Bhd advanced 35 sen to RM8.58, while Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd and Sarawak Plantation Bhd each added 28 sen to RM21.92 and RM4.82, respectively.

Concrete Engineering Products Bhd rose 26 sen to RM3.90.

Trading activity moderated, with total turnover falling to 3.6 billion shares worth RM3.03 billion compared to 3.91 billion shares valued at RM3.32 billion on Aug 21.
