The government has raised the retail prices of unsubsidised petrol and diesel by 5 sen per litre for the week of Aug 27 to Sept 2, 2026, as persistent global supply pressures kept crude oil prices elevated.
Under the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM), RON97 will rise to RM4.30 per litre, from RM4.25, while unsubsidised RON95 increases to RM3.82, from RM3.77.
Unsubsidised diesel will also climb 5 sen to RM4.72 per litre, from RM4.67.
The Ministry of Finance said Brent crude remained above US$90 a barrel for most of the APM calculation period, with continued traffic restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz further tightening global oil supply.
Disruptions to refining capacity in West Asia and Russia have also placed greater pressure on refined petroleum products, particularly diesel.
Despite crude prices easing towards the end of the calculation period, the decline was insufficient to offset higher prices recorded earlier in the week.
For eligible Malaysians, subsidised prices remain unchanged at RM1.99 per litre for RON95 under BUDI95. Diesel prices remain at RM2.15 per litre under BUDI Diesel, while the subsidised rates under SKPS and SKDS remain at RM2.10 and RM2.05 per litre respectively.
The Government said it continues to absorb part of the cost through targeted subsidies, covering RM1.83 per litre of BUDI95 RON95 and RM2.62 per litre of BUDI Diesel.
The Ministry also urged motorists to use fuel prudently, plan journeys efficiently and reduce unnecessary travel as geopolitical uncertainty continues to affect global petroleum supply.
